Let’s start with the photos: thoughtful, crafted, objectively beautiful, awe-inspiring, “the greatest wedding photographs I’ve ever seen” are all statements shared with us by those who have seen our photos. These are understatements. I don’t believe that words can capture the talent and love that Ryan used to craft our wedding day photos into the >600-photo gallery masterpiece that was delivered to us.

We first started coordinating with Ryan nearly 3 years before our wedding. A global pandemic interrupted our short-term plans, and our conversations with Ryan turned into long-term planning. Ryan was incredible throughout this time. We overcame a canceled 2021 wedding with a lovely and casual engagement shoot on the California coast (do this if you are thinking about it). We then waited until we felt the energy to plan a wedding again and settled on a small wedding with family on the Big Sur coast. We worried that Ryan would have forgotten us or otherwise have lost the momentum and interest, but as soon as we got on the phone with him, it was like talking to an old friend who remembered every detail of our shoot and our wants and needs for our wedding day. Ryan’s talents as a photographer aside, he is an incredible asset to your wedding. His deep familiarity with the area ensured our photo planning would be successful (including navigating permits), and his enthusiasm and excitement pushed us through even the darkest days of wedding planning.

On the day, Ryan was a force of nature. Seemingly nowhere but also everywhere all at once. His affable personality put our family at ease and meant that we never had any photos that looked staged. Even in our brief moment of family portraits, he found a unique angle and epic backdrop, producing sensational imagery even with the most mundane of wedding photography tasks. On our private adventure up the coast for our dance and wedding vows, we had a Ryan as a friend with us, giving us direction for how we’d be most likely to photograph well. In every moment of every hour that Ryan joined us, he looked for the next perfect spot for an image, or the perfect pose for the moment, or some tweak to our clothes to squeeze out every possible moment of photo perfection. Ryan has a particular eye for the moody and sometimes spooky vibes of the California coast. We treasure these images in all their raw and dark emotion, alongside his bright and beautiful images of us in all our happiness on the wedding day. He is a master of shadows, or maybe the light that leaks through the shadows and lights up just the right part of the portrait. If you want an artist in their prime to capture your wedding, look no further than Ryan.

We couldn’t have picked a better photographer for our wedding in Pacific Grove. Ryan’s pictures came out so beautiful. His style is elegant, romantic, and so creative! I wanted a photographer that would give us something more than just the same old same old cheesy wedding shots. And he did it! Thanks again Ryan!! We look forward to working with you in the future!

Ryan came highly recommended to us through a friend, and we could not be more thrilled we made the choice to have him photograph our wedding! We can’t recommend Ryan highly enough! Not only does he take amazing photographs, but he was professional, communicative, and super easy to work with from beginning to end. After communicating mostly by email (his communication was always prompt and thorough), we met him for the first time on the day of our wedding. I work with vendors quite a bit, and there are typically always some snags or things you wish had gone differently–not in this case; Ryan was 110% in every way, super perceptive about the kinds of things we wanted to capture, professional but also so lovely and personable, and above all a very very talented photographer.
